At least 36 people have died in a fire that engulfed three skyscrapers in a residential complex in Hong Kong's Tai Po district. Hundreds are also missing. It's a veritable inferno.

Local media reported columns of thick grey smoke rising as emergency services tried to put out the flames.

Several people were trapped inside, and several firefighters were injured. The flames are believed to have spread from the bamboo scaffolding to the outside of the buildings.

Authorities closed sections of the nearby highway while firefighting operations continued.
