The Netherlands closes at 5 pm This was announced by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who illustrated at a press conference the new measures that further exacerbate the partial lockdown already in force in the country to contain the new surge in infections from Covid.

Non-essential bars, restaurants and shops will have to close at 5pm. "As of Sunday, the Netherlands will effectively be closed between 5pm and 5am."

The police are preparing for possible new revolts, after those that have inflamed the country and created enormous unrest after the announcement of the first partial lockdown. But the shortage of beds in intensive care is reaching alarm thresholds, the government can no longer wait.

The Netherlands had lifted most of the restrictions in September, but was forced to reintroduce them with the increase in infections and hospitalizations.

The closure of the stadiums to the public is already in force, while citizens are called to work from home and not to welcome more than four guests.
