Infections are down sharply in Germany. The Robert Koch Institute has recorded 10,100 in the past 24 hours, with another 88 deaths.

Just a week ago there were 29,384, while on 23 December they jumped again to 44,927.

The figure is certainly affected by the days of vacation in which fewer tests are carried out and less positive emerge, observes the Koch institute which fears the spread of the Omicron variant.

However, if you think of the data at the beginning of December, when over 74 thousand new cases were recorded a day, the numbers are much lower, even if we do not want to consider today's data that is affected by the few swabs processed on Christmas day.

On 2 December, when the rate of more than 70 thousand infections per day was advancing, Germany had introduced a lockdown for the unvaccinated.
