France should exceed 100,000 infections per day by the end of December, due to the high level of propagation of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus: this is the warning launched today by the French Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.
"We will probably exceed 100,000 infections per day by the end of the month," said the minister, interviewed by BFMTV-RMC. The latest data published last night by Santé publique France speak of 72,832 new cases and in the streets of Paris, as Christmas approaches, queues in front of pharmacies and analysis laboratories multiply to carry out anti-Covid tests.
Over the past seven days, the daily average in France has grown to 54,231 infections per day. Yesterday the government spokesman Gabriel Attal specified that in Paris "over one in three contagion seems to be linked to the Omicron variant".
Faced with the acceleration of the epidemic, France today opened vaccination to children between the ages of 5 and 11 and asked to strengthen the use of teleworking, in the hope of curbing the spread of Omicron, which according to forecasts should soon become the majority .
