They face the death penalty as a result of drug trafficking charges.

Two Singaporeans, a 34-year-old and a 41-year-old, were found in handcuffs in a Sentosa hotel with 1,893 grams of heroin, 270 grams of ice and 4,193 grams of cannabis.

In the event of conviction, they will be subjected to the death penalty by hanging.

The drug laws in Singapore are very strict: the possession of 15 grams of heroin or 500 grams of cannabis is enough to trigger the death penalty.

Four convictions have already been carried out in the Asian city-state since the beginning of the year.
