The former Napoli and Argentina national team striker Ezequiel “Pocho” Lavezzi has been admitted to a clinic in Punta del Este, Uruguay, with a fractured collarbone that he sustained during a fight.

This was reported by Argentine television, citing sources close to the Argentine.

The violence apparently broke out in Lavezzi's house, in the elegant town of José Ignacio - one of the most exclusive places on the coast of Punta del Este - during a party.

It is not clear whether he was stabbed: in the Uruguayan media there is even speculation that the culprit was his brother.

However, the family deny this and speak of a disastrous fall down the stairs, confirming instead that the episode required police intervention.
