A second body was found aboard what remains of the Italian ferry Euroferry Olimpia , which went up in flames at dawn on Friday ten nautical miles north of Corfu in the Ionian Sea, two hours after leaving the Greek port of Igoumenitsa en route to Brindisi .

The Greek coast guard announced that they recovered the body from the ship's garage. Nine people are now missing.

The search is intensifying as all sources of the fire have been extinguished. From Euroferry Olympia today only acrid smoke continued to come out and the firefighters managed to get back on the ferry at the end of the day in search of the missing.

The ship was towed approximately 230 kilometers from the island of Corfu to the port of Astakos, on the west coast of mainland Greece, to resume firefighting operations and search for missing passengers in complete safety.

Among the nearly 300 survivors there are also about sixty Italians: 21 passengers and 43 members of the crew. The Prosecutor's Office of Corfu investigates to trace the causes of the fire.
