Fire almost completely extinguished on Euroferry Olympia, the ferry that left Igoumenitsa towards Brindisi on Thursday evening and went on fire last Friday a few miles north of Corfu, even if there would still be dense fumes and considered dangerous.
The ship will be transferred in the next few hours as ordered by the Greek authorities to a port on the west coast of Greece. The shipping company Grimaldi specified that the port indicated is that of Platygiali, Aitoloakarnania, in Astakos at the island of Ithaca.

According to reports from the Greek media, the firefighters can no longer continue the search for missing persons on the wreck in the open sea, and have therefore requested the transfer of the ship to a safe harbor. There are ten people of whom there is no news, among the approximately 290 registered in the boarding lists but who are not among those saved from the burning of the ship. On Sunday one of the missing passengers was found alive, aft of the ship, and rescued.

The Greek authorities are dealing with the transfer and stay of the relatives of the missing, who were waiting in Corfu. Among the survivors there are also about sixty Italians: 21 passengers and 43 of the crew.

The latter plus eight other crew members will remain in Greece at the moment, as confirmed by the shipping company Grimaldi Lines, where they will presumably be heard by the judicial authority, to provide their contribution to the investigations launched by the Corfu Prosecutor's Office.
