The war front is closing in on the Sassari Brigade. "Satellite photographs show a significant presence of Israeli army troops and vehicles near the UN peacekeeping base in Maroun al-Ras, southern Lebanon."
1200 Sassari soldiers are stationed here: the Dimonios have been leading the contingent since August , when the handover to the management of the Unifil mission took place.
The area - the broadcaster continues - has seen the construction of a road and excavations of the land near the base: UN troops raised the alarm in recent days.
The situation of the Italian bases in Lebanon, military sources say, oscillates between level two and level three of alert, that is, the maximum level. The soldiers have often taken refuge in bunkers.
