Boys department, girls department and neutral department, no gender.

This is what will happen in the toy and baby supply stores in California.

Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a law that, without banning the men's and women's sections, requires large retailers to have a separate and gender-neutral display space.

Sections where "reasonable selections" of toys and childcare items will be shown, regardless of whether they have been marketed for a particular gender.

The law comes into force in 2024 and will be applied to large retailers, those who do not respect it risk a fine of up to 250 dollars for the first violation and 500 for the following ones.

The measure does not concern clothing but only objects for children, and the aim is to help citizens to combat gender prejudices from an early age.
