Cagliari taxi driver jailed in Bangkok: "I was scammed"

Stopped at the airport in Bangkok while returning home . Accused of having had sexual relations with a seventeen-year-old . Tried, he says he was induced to confess and to pay money that no one knows where it ended up. He is locked up in a cell with a six-year sentence : shaved head, sleeps on the floor and eats, when he is given it, only poor quality rice.

It is a story with many dark points that involves the taxi driver from Cagliari Saverio Bacciu, 59 years old : since March 23 he has been in prison in Thailand for a crime he claims not to have committed. He claims to be innocent and the victim of a scam that would have bordered on extortion. For the local court, however, he is guilty. The Farnesina is interested in the case. While the defense's procedural strategy is governed from Cagliari by the lawyer Federico Delitala.
