A tragic accident occurred in the Ostermalm district of central Stockholm, where a double-decker bus crashed into a bus shelter.

Numerous ambulances and a rescue helicopter arrived on the scene. According to initial reports, the driver of the vehicle—the only person on board, as the bus was not in service—was detained for questioning by investigators. One possibility under consideration is that of a sudden illness.

The accident occurred shortly after 3:00 PM. The rescue operation, which concluded around 5:00 PM, was coordinated by the firefighters. "The bus was not in service and only the driver was on board," confirmed Mathias Häglund, the firefighter's commander, as quoted by SVT, the Swedish public broadcaster.
