The Pentagon will send 500 interceptor missiles to Ukraine for the Nasams and Patriot medium-range air defense systems, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, citing a source in the Biden administration, as reported by Ukrainian media.
According to the newspaper, the United States wants to send weapons to Kiev before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
The missiles are expected to arrive soon, which should address the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, yesterday there was a congratulatory phone call from Volodymyr Zelensky to Donald Trump on his victory, with the president-elect assuring the Ukrainian president that he will continue to support Kiev with its Starlink satellite network.
“The senseless killings will soon end. The time for warmongering profiteers is over,” Elon Musk, who participated in the conversation, wrote on his platform. The call lasted 25 minutes and the details of the peace plan were not discussed, but Zelensky was somewhat reassured, according to Axios.
Now we expect a conversation between Trump and Vladimir Putin, who has already said he is ready to answer the call.
