Alarm in Serbia, where a man tried to attack the Israeli embassy in Belgrade.

According to what was reported by the local authorities, "around 11 am, an unknown person "shot a crossbow at a member of the police force, who was guaranteeing the security of the Israeli embassy, wounding him in the neck".

At that point the reaction of the police was triggered, who killed the suspect before he could strike again.

The injured officer was taken to hospital and underwent surgery to remove the dart and is now in intensive care, in conditions described as "very serious".

For Interior Minister Ivica Dacic it would be an act of jihadist "terrorism".

Several people were also stopped "as a precaution" for questioning.
