At the World Triathlon Championship Series in Cagliari, Italy officially obtains the third women's pass for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: three women are therefore expected in the French capital including Ilaria Zane, Verena Steinhauser, Bianca Seregni and Alice Betto.

For the second consecutive Olympics, Italy will field five athletes overall, three women and two men - together with giants such as Great Britain, the United States and Australia - out of a possible six (only France and Germany will have maximum representation).

And the winner of the WTCS Cagliari 2024, Cassandre Beaugrand, is French (with a time of 01:47:25), who preceded the German Lisa Tertsch and the English Beth Potter. Four Italians lined up on the Poetto seafront, which for the third year hosted the Italian stage of the World Triathlon Championship Series: Verena Steinhauser, Bianca Seregni, Ilaria Zane and Alice Betto. Steinhauser, an athlete of the Fiamme Oro, was the first to cross the finish line, finishing in 13th position with a time of 1:48:34.

«After having qualified two men, today we also have the third woman and we will have five athletes in Paris. We managed to do it at home, demonstrating to the world the absolute quality that Italy's triathlon has acquired in recent years in the most awaited race of the season before the Olympics", said Fitri president Riccardo Giubilei, "A special thank you goes to the girls and to the boys who achieved the feat of bringing our federation to be a protagonist at the Paris Games, also with the qualification of the relay, after three years of an uphill mandate".
