The Cagliari windsurfer Teresa Medde is the new Techno 293 world champion.
The athlete from the Windsurfing Club Cagliari won the under 19 and overall titles on Lake Balaton, Hungary. A challenge that lasted six days: 350 racers participated. 70% of the fifteen tests were with light winds between 4 and 6 knots and 30% with winds varying between 7 and 20 knots.
«We mainly raced with 4-6 knots, a condition in which adequate athletic preparation is fundamental - says the new champion. - My fleet, Under 19 and Open women, competed together with the men, making the starts even more difficult. Despite these challenges, intense training allowed me to reach the top step of the podium in both categories. I am very happy that the Techno293 class maintains a high level, offering young people the opportunity to have fun and play sports. After this success, I am even more motivated for the European Championship in Athens and I will continue to train to achieve a good result there too."
In just under 3 months the European Championship will begin in Athens. In addition to Teresa Medde's gold, Riccardo and Veronica Poledrini, Luca Versace and Vanina Bruni also placed in the top 10 of their respective categories. Thirteen athletes from the Windsurfing Club in total.
