Two Sardinian stops are coming to the Italian tour of "E Morte non avverso dominio," Vinicio Capossela's first Ballad Opera, with Pierpaolo Capovilla center stage. The show will be performed at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari on November 8th and 9th (at 9 pm) and at the Teatro Comunale in Sassari on November 11th at 8:30 pm, thanks to the Carta da Musica Association in collaboration with the Le ragazze terribili cooperative for the second edition of the Sardinia Music Hub.

Freely based on the life of Renato Striglia and the works of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, “And Death Shall Not Have Dominion” was born from the work developed by Capossela around “Under Milk Wood – Sotto il bosco di latte”, a poem for voices set in the imaginary seaside village of Llareggub.

The project is dedicated to the memory of Renato Striglia, a friend of Capossela's and a radio DJ who passed away prematurely. He spent years working on an Italian version of "Under Milk Wood" but was unable to complete it. From that unfinished work, a work for voices has emerged that celebrates life, innocence, plurality, friendship, and the strength of community.

Taking center stage is singer-songwriter and actor Pierpaolo Capovilla, founder of Il Teatro degli Orrori, invited by Capossela to share a tale permeated by the "epic of failure" and populated by the presence of Renato Striglia, Dylan Thomas, and Captain Cat, the blind sailor protagonist of the story created by the Welsh poet.

Alongside the two protagonists, musicians, opera singers, performers, and recorded voices create a constantly metamorphosing community. Their presences intertwine like radio signals, while the fifteen original songs composed by Capossela for the opera—which audiences will hear for the first time and which will later be included in his new album—are interwoven with the narrative in a theatrical and musical score.
