Cagliari won four of the Ussi Sardegna awards presented today in Golfo Aranci during the annual event organized by the island's sports press, dedicated to athletes, Sardinian teams, and personalities from the world of sport who have stood out during the competitive season.

Cagliari Calcio won the "Fair Play" award, while Fabio Pisacane received the Davide Astori award. Matteo Mancosu, currently coach of the Rossoblu U17 team, received the "Sport and Longevity" award. Alice Virdis, a player for Cagliari Women's Futsal team who recently made her debut for the Italian national team, received the "Young Talents" award .

There were moments of genuine emotion when Coach Pisacane took the stage to accept the award dedicated to Astori, greeted by Davide's father, Renato, and brother Bruno. "It's a great honor to receive this award," said the Rossoblu coach. "I thank my family for choosing me to carry on this mission. Davide has been and always will be an example, on and off the pitch. Representing him is a source of immense pride, something that makes me feel even more responsible. He lives in each of us, every day," concluded Pisacane, who dedicated his goal to Astori during a Cagliari-Fiorentina match. "Davide was a boy who welcomed you with his simplicity and humility, and he managed to instill values in those around him."

Nicola Riva accepted the Fair Play award on behalf of Cagliari Calcio: "Following the FIGC's decision to postpone the matches due to the passing of Pope Francis, the Rossoblù club made the training pitch and facilities of its sports center, the CRAI Sport Center in Assemini, available to Fiorentina—the matchday's opponent, who had already arrived on the island— to facilitate match preparation. A natural gesture of Fair Play, which makes the world of football better," reads the award citation.

"I thank USSI Sardegna for this award on behalf of President Giulini, General Manager Stefano Melis, and the entire Club," said Nicola Riva. "It's wonderful to receive recognition of this kind. The decision that day was simple, natural. The Club, moreover, is always committed to fair play initiatives that unite the Clubs and their fans under the banner of the positive values of sport."

Other awards presented during the ceremony included Torres Sassari, Dinamo Sassari, and Tennistavolo Sassari, as well as many other athletes, including the captain of the Italian Priests' Selection, Father Walter Onano, and other athletes such as Chiara Obino and Cecilia Puddu Obino, Emerson, Lorenzo Carboni, Roberto Carta, Maurizio Pedrazzini, Andrea Demontis, Alice Dessy and Lorenzo Sirena, Emerson, Laura Frattaroli, Marcello Guidi, Leonardo Marras, Diego Nappi, Jeff Onorato, Davide Paulis, Clelia Soddu, and Cristian Zara.
