After two years of hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the 22nd edition of “Autumn in Barbagia” is back.

Back to normality, therefore, for the event organized and promoted by the Region, the Nuoro Chamber of Commerce and the ASPEN Special Company, and which involves 32 municipalities in the hinterland of Sardinia in a journey through traditions, culture and gastronomy .

“A nice breath of fresh air for the whole hinterland. For our territories perhaps the most genuine ”, the words of the councilor for tourism, Gianni Chessa .

"I focus a lot on traditions and I believe that Sardinia should start afresh, and I always say this, from who we were and who we are", continues Chessa. “Traditions and culture. When a tourist travels he wants to live an experience of local life, the true and authentic one. Good food, traditions and culture. Sardinia can and must give a dream because we are able to give emotions to those who come from outside. This initiative then introduces the Sardinians to a real land, because many Sardinians do not know Sardinia. Many do not know that there is a different reality that must be fully experienced and enjoyed through these manifestations. We need to know how to promote them and create a system in order to make the interior of our splendid island known ”.

There are 32 municipalities, therefore, "which from September to December share a stage of this beautiful and successful initiative that has lasted for years and which unfortunately was blocked due to the pandemic", continues Chessa. “Now we give the possibility to tourists , even in the shoulder months, to be able to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of Barbagia and the Sardinians, which is unique. This year will be a record for arrivals. The data for July which are well above 10 percent. The important thing is that we restart, that the economy linked to tourism breaks down. The data is beyond our expectations ”.

The initiative was born with the intention of promoting the territory , its productive excellence and the local uses and customs that are renewed in the places of tradition.

The new edition of "Autumn in Barbagia" will begin on 3 and 4 September with the Bitti stage, which opens the festival with a specific goal: to revive the event, after years of fear and uncertainty.
