Soon, in Sant'Antioco, time will seem to stop again. The streets will fill with the ancient sounds of launeddas, the smell of freshly baked bread will envelop the historic center, and the intense colors of traditional costumes will paint every corner of the city. With the 666th edition of the Feast of Sant'Antioco Martire, the island will prepare to celebrate one of the most heartfelt and fascinating events in its thousand-year history.
From May 1st, the city will begin to pulsate with music, flavors and meetings: the party will explode between evenings of 90s music and days dedicated to gastronomic culture, with a market of local producers that will animate the historic center. You will be able to discover, taste and learn about the secrets of traditional bread, Carignano wine, lagoon fish and the most authentic cuisine.
May 3 will be one of the most intense moments. The pilgrimage and the offering of the "Is Coccois" bread will unite the faithful and visitors in a gesture full of spirituality and belonging. The launeddas players will accompany the procession, creating an atmosphere suspended in time, while the blessing and distribution of the bread will consecrate the deep bond between the community and its Saint. In the evening, a great show cooking show in Piazza De Gasperi, with the performance of the chef Luigi Pomata presented by the journalist Francesca Figus, to continue with the grand finale of a wonderful concert in Piazza Ferralasco
The next day, Sunday 4th May, will be a party for everyone: the knights will proudly parade, the best pariglie of Sardinia will put on a show, the little ones will have fun at the Cartoon Fest. Every street, every square will vibrate with joy, tradition and hospitality. The Italian champion of handmade pasta Ylenia Parente will be present in the morning at the local producers' market, while in the evening there will be more show cooking in Piazza De Gasperi, but this time in the company of the journalist Tessa Gelisio and the challenge of 3 young chefs.
On May 5th, instead, the most solemn moment will be experienced in the evening. The entire city will gather in the Basilica for the Eucharistic celebration in honor of Sant'Antioco. Then, the procession will parade through the city streets among traditional costumes and ancient instruments, in a river of faith that will touch every heart. In the evening, a fireworks display will paint the sky above the waterfront, while live music will continue to make the soul of the city vibrate.
The party will end on May 6th, with more music and joy, leaving in the hearts a sense of belonging that is difficult to describe, but impossible to forget.
The 666th Feast of Sant'Antioco Martire will not only be a celebration: it will be a journey into the deepest identity of a people, an opportunity to feel part of something eternal. Those who participate will take with them the magic of those days, guarding it like a precious treasure until the next, unmissable appointment.
