May is not going slowly, at least in tourism for Northern Sardinia. The president of Federalberghi Stefano Visconti comments: "Recording an increase of two percentage points in the room occupancy index compared to the same period in 2024 is a significant figure. The 64.35% reached this year, against 62.36% the previous year, tells us that our facilities are working well, especially considering that May is the real opening month of the season".
A beacon in this positive panorama continues to be Alghero, which confirms itself as a driving force for the entire territory. "The city of Alghero remains firmly above the provincial average, with room occupancy reaching 69.36% compared to 67.68% in 2024, demonstrating a constant capacity for attraction, also supported by its lively presence of events and demonstrations in the territory".
The rest of the province also shows positive growth, a direct consequence of the improvement in traffic volumes recorded by the two airports in Northern Sardinia, key gateways for visitors.
According to Federalberghi, the numbers are also growing for cultural events of great appeal, such as the Cavalcata Sarda in Sassari, and for conference-type events. "The potential of conference tourism is enormous and could significantly fuel the low season months," observes President Visconti. "However, to fully develop it, we need a system of specific infrastructures and services, to transform these opportunities into a constant and structured flow."
