One of the island's most prestigious literary competitions, always dedicated to civic memory, social commitment, and resistance, its twelfth edition is ever closer, with the international jury announcing its selection of the ten finalists for the Emilio Lussu Prize Festival : five for fiction and five for nonfiction . The winners will be announced on November 14th in Cagliari , at 5:30 pm in the Castello Conference Room of the Hotel Regina Margherita , during a new year that will span the days of November 10th to 15th .
The two finalists are authors published by some of Italy's most important publishing houses , chosen to showcase the diversity of contemporary Italian publishing. Their ten titles will thus accompany the Award's journey toward the final ceremony, following the numerous preview events that have enlivened the capital in recent months, including fiction, current affairs, popular science fiction, and even poetry.
For the Fiction section, the podium goes to Sandro Campani , with " La casa del dormiveglia " for Einaudi, Marco Lodoli , with " Solo un giorno " also published by Einaudi, Marta Morazzoni , who instead signs " Tutta la verità, all'incirca " for Guanda, Laura Pariani , author of " Primamà " for La nave di Teseo, and finally Elena Varvello , with " La vita sempre " in a second publication by Guanda.
As for the non-fiction category, the finalists are Goffredo Buccini , for his " Tyrannis " published by Neri Pozza, Alessandra Celati , author of " Women who create disorder " for Einaudi, Mimmo Franzinelli , with " The Reckoning " published by Mondadori, Alessandro Mantovani , who for the Italo Svevo stable signs " There is nothing here. Images from the Labyrinth ", and lastly Luigi Zoja , with " Our time. Narrating a Europe " for Bollati Boringhieri .
The aforementioned finalist works were identified – after a long and distinct selection process in various evaluation phases – by the international jury chaired by the writer Guido Conti and completed by Miruna Bulumete , from the University of Bucharest, Raniero Speelman , from the University of Utrecht, the essayist and journalist Bruno Quaranta and the journalist Manuela Ennas .
The Prize named after Emilio Lussu , a key writer, politician, and intellectual of Italian anti-fascism who never renounced his Sardinian pride, approaches the climax of the Festival dedicated to him , renewing this year's focus on contemporary literature and thought in its exploration of the transformations of the present. Promoted by the cultural association L'Alambicco , the twelfth edition receives the support of the Region and the Municipality .
