After three days of walking, the celebrations in honor of San Saturnino, patron saint of Cagliari, will close tomorrow.

The pilgrimage, curated by the Athanatos association of Cagliari in collaboration with Chelu and Luna, touched various stages: from the capital to Porto Torres, Nule, Bultei, Benetutti and Oristano. On 27 October the statue of santu Sadurru touched Mandas and Gergei and then moved towards Isili. On the 28th stop in Ussana, Escolca, Serri, Sestu and finally Monserrato, before returning to Cagliari where tomorrow at 9.30 the procession takes place starting from the Cathedral of Santa Maria (Castello district) to reach the Basilica of San Saturnino with the saint Mass officiated (at 11 am) by Archbishop Giuseppe Baturi.

At 8 pm, the concert in the Auditorium of the Pier Luigi da Palestrina Conservatory of the Orchestra of the orchestral practice class directed by Maestro Alberto Pollesel, a world premiere of the Passio Beatissimi Saturnini for Choir and Orchestra by Maestro Vittorio Montis , on a text by don Giorgio Mameli.

THE PROGRAM - The simulacrum is transported from the headquarters of the I cavalieri dell'Antica Locanda association to the Cathedral (9.30 am) where the walking procession will begin towards the basilica of San Saturnino.

At 10.45 am the interforce picket of honor precedes the entrance of the simulacrum, in the presence of the ecclesiastical authorities. At 11 the Mass, at 15 (Basilica of San Saturnino) the event dedicated to young people with the archbishop of Cagliari. At 8 pm the concert in the Auditorium of the Pier Luigi da Palestrina Conservatory.

THE SAINT - Born in Cagliari, martyred in 304 AD during the persecutions wanted by Diocletian, the testimonies of Saturnino lead to the places of military settlement of the Romans in the Goceano.

The pilgrimage winds along a path that leads to experience all the riches of the territory.

EXHIBITIONS AND CONCERTS - There are also exhibitions and concerts on the calendar: October 29 in Cagliari ("Cagliari seen by young people" by the Foiso Fois high school: pictorial graphic works presented by the teachers of the Pcto project - Valentina Milia, Alessandro Sitzia - with the participation of the comprehensive institute La Marmora di Monserrato).

Inside the Basilica of San Saturnino, starting at 2.30 pm, there will be tours with tourist guides who will make known the places linked to martyrdom in the fourth century AD, and it will also be possible to take a guided tour of the early Christian basilica.

At 7 pm the celebration of solemn Vespers in the basilica of San Saturnino, officiated by Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi, in the presence of the civil and military authorities.

Until October 30 - at the headquarters of the Athanatos association (via Lepanto 42 Cagliari) - the exhibition "On the way to S.
