On Sunday 12 May 2024, the Golfo degli Angeli will host the Sail For Women, a solidarity sail to support the fight against cancer. The sailing is promoted by Avas (Sardinian offshore sailing owners) and Salute Donna, the association that brings together cancer patients and healthcare professionals involved in the field of prevention.

The Gallerie Sardegna Shopping Centers, the brand that identifies the centers managed on the island by the real estate development and services company Nhood, support and convey this important initiative.

Furthermore, all the operators of the I Fenicotteri – Santa Gilla Cagliari Shopping Center were involved and motivated to participate in the initiative. This is a new concrete sign of the attention on the part of the shopping centers managed by Nhood towards social issues and problems.

The sailing event is now in its fifth year and has, over the years, made it possible to purchase goods and services aimed at improving psychological care and assistance. In the last edition almost 100 boats took part with almost 800 people on board. Numerous new features have been announced. In particular, on the Su Siccu seafront in Cagliari, starting from Friday 10 May, the Health Village will be created with stands, gazebos and infopoints dedicated to screening and support campaigns.

Promoters of the initiative:

  • AVAS Armatori Vela d'Altura Sardegna is the first association formed by shipowners racing on the island. Today it has around 150 members. Born in Cagliari in 2018, it organizes sailing events and supports sailing circles and clubs, with the aim of growing the offshore sailing movement. President Carlo Cottiglia.
  • Women's Health ODV: is an association of cancer patients founded in 1994 within the Cancer Institute of Milan, by will of the founder Annamaria Mancuso, following direct experience with the disease. Since then many branches have been opened in many Italian regions, including Sardinia. The Association deploys numerous human and professional resources both in collaboration with institutions and in direct help to individuals. It raises public awareness of the importance of cancer prevention and screening and contributes to patient awareness so that they improve knowledge of their rights and treatment options.
