The iconic Hollywood sign that stands out in the hills of Los Angeles, California gets a makeover on the occasion of its 100th birthday .
The letters that dominate the neighborhood, symbol par excellence of the entertainment world, from 1923, will be cleaned and painted with an operation destined to last eight weeks .
The works can be followed live , minute by minute, thanks to cameras.
The wording "is the pride of Los Angeles and we are delighted that fans around the world will be able to see the new look for their 100th birthday," said Jeff Zarrinnam, president of the Hollywood Sign Trust.
The monumental inscription is located on Mount Lee: the letters, white in color, are 9 meters wide and 15 meters high each. The writing as a whole is 110 meters long. The structure ( "HOLLYWOODLAND" was the original writing) was created for promotional purposes but over time it has become one of the most famous symbols of the city.
