The Municipality of Assemini says yes to its first “Literary Forest” . As part of the “Rainbook Festival”, a new green space will be built in the municipal area of via Gerrei, which will be inaugurated on Thursday 19 June at 9:30. The “Literary Forest” will be dedicated to Virginia Woolf, British writer, essayist and intellectual, one of the most influential voices in the debate on the role of women in society and culture.
The initiative was promoted by the Cagliari association “Arc” for the defense and promotion of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and aromantic people and all minorities of sexual and romantic identity and orientation . The goal? To enhance the territory by planting new trees and plants, making the area more beautiful, sustainable and usable for citizens, especially for young people and families.
Each plant will have a symbolic meaning, becoming a witness to the culture, social commitment and LGBTQIA+ identity that have always animated the “Rainbook Festival”: «It will be a space of beauty, memory and future - commented the councilor for cultural, gender and LGBTQ+ policies Jessica Mostallino - and a concrete gesture to unite ecology and culture in the name of freedom, diversity and inclusion». And she concludes: «Since it existed, the Puddu administration has supported the protection of LGBT rights. This year we are joining the pride with a special event, a small green space where every tree will be there to remember the many victims and the fight against violence and gender discrimination».
