"The Festa dell'Unità is returning to Sardinia. And it's returning as a festival should be: politics, culture, music, volunteering, and a desire to be together." The regional secretary of the Democratic Party, Silvio Lai, announced the event in a social media post. The event will take place from September 8th to 12th at the Alghero Tourist Port, starting Tuesday at 5:30 PM.

"For five days, we will try to build a square open to the city and to Sardinia. A square in which to discuss the great issues of our time without sacrificing the pleasure of meeting," Lai writes, adding: "We have chosen a common thread: 'Europe, a frontier of hope.' Because while war, nationalism, and new walls are returning, we need a Europe capable of building peace, development, rights, and social justice. And we need to discuss what place we want for Sardinia within this Europe."

Guests included Peppe Provenzano, Simona Bonafè, Andrea Orlando, and Stefano Bonaccini, along with Alessandra Todde, Piero Comandini, regional councilors, parliamentarians, administrators, and many other prominent figures from the social, economic, cultural, and associative worlds.

"We will talk about the environment and climate, industry and energy, agriculture, reforms, work, Europe, cities and the future of Sardinia", explains the secretary, "every day there will be books and their authors, from that of Romano Prodi with Massimo Giannini to Arturo Scotto, Roberto Deriu, Stefano Vaccari, Antonio Nicita, Pierluigi Adami and Luca Bauccio and the book by Giulia Giornaliste, the collective born from the Carta di Olbia group, which offers a glimpse into the power of words to build a culture based on rights, autonomy and full citizenship". From 9.30 pm, music: Piero Marras on the 8th, Modena City Ramblers on the 10th and Frankie Hi-NRG MC on the 11th September.
