Inaugurated this morning at 10 in Bitti, in the spaces of the Ariston cinema, the multimedia exhibition entitled "Frida Kahlo-Viva la vita". Funded by the Sardinia Region, the Sardinia Foundation and the Municipality of Bitti, it will be open to visitors until 9 July.
Present at the presentation of the cultural event, which will kick off the Bittese summer season, were the Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities Christian Farina, the president of the Istelai Cooperative Francesco Coloru and Manuela Manca, historian and curator of the exhibition who says: «It is a woman who represents female emancipation and loved to remember that her year of birth was 1910, the year of the Mexican revolution, her work is mostly centered on self-portraits which, as she herself said, "was the only thing she knew well"».
"This time it's a bet - says Francesco Coloru - Frida is an important character, a woman with a very specific political and social connotation, who today is rediscovered above all by young people and we expect a massive presence from them". «As always, there is great attention from the municipal administration towards the cultural growth of the town which places Bitti among the tourist towns of the interior of the island - adds Christian Farina - an administration which gives a nod to art and to culture, as a parallel strategy to the agro-pastoral economy, to promote the growth of the country also favoring the return of young people as an investment for the future".
The paintings and life of Frida Kahlo will be presented through video projections, light and acoustic effects, a real immersion of the senses, capable of involving visitors. Surrounding the exhibition are 13 shots taken by the photographer Leo Matiz, in his Casa Azul, in the district of Coyocàn, a suburb of Mexico City, which portray the artist in his intimacy.
