Spirituality, popular devotion, tradition, and culture. Nuoro is preparing to celebrate its 126th Festa del Redentore, one of the most anticipated events of the Sardinian summer and an event that continues to be a profound part of the city's and the island's identity.

The 2026 edition, from August 22nd to 29th, features several new features, starting with the new event route, designed to bring the festival back to the heart of the city and strengthen its connection with the community. This edition also focuses on inclusion, with dedicated areas for people with disabilities, and on the renewed collaboration with the Curia, reaffirming the centrality of the religious dimension.

The route will pass through some of the city's most iconic landmarks: Piazza Santa Maria della Neve, Via Tola, Piazza San Giovanni, Via Roma, Piazza Italia, Via Dante, Via Deffenu, Via Ciusa Romagna, Via Lamarmora, Corso Garibaldi, and Via Monsignor Bua.

"The Redentore is much more than a summer event," declared Nuoro Mayor Emiliano Fenu during the press conference in the City Council Chamber. "It is faith, culture, tradition, and collective memory."

"We wanted the new route to be a way for the city to experience the festival," emphasized Culture Councilor and Deputy Mayor Natascia Demurtas. "This year, we also want a truly inclusive festival, with areas dedicated to people with disabilities, so everyone can participate and fully experience the most important moments."

Among the new features is the route of the Knights and Amazons Parade, which will begin in Piazza Italia, a short distance from the groups, to promote greater order and a better flow of the procession. "This year, we chose to create a route that reflects the solemnity that the Festa del Redentore demands," explained artistic director Ottavio Nieddu. "The route was designed to restore the event's full strength, its symbolic value, and its connection to the city."
