An attempted blitz in the commission to increase the numbers in favor of the majority. It is the surprise move with which Fratelli d'Italia tries to block the vote in the commission on the super bonus decree questioned by Forza Italia against the new tightening wanted by the Mef . From the Mef the line does not change: we need to put a definitive end to the haemorrhaging of expenditure linked to the benefit. And finally mediation arrives.
The high-tension day takes place in the Senate: the commission starts early in the morning, the work continues in fits and starts and drags on until the evening, awaiting the opinions of the Mef on the sub-amendments to the changes proposed by the government. A wait that holds in check Forza Italia's proposals against the retroactivity of the spread of deductions and the introduction of the sugar tax from July foreseen by the government's amendment. The Azzurri's pressing is still high.
If the decree is not modified, "we will vote against", warned the Italian secretary Antonio Tajani: "If positive solutions are found - he continued - I am always ready to compromise. Our senators are ready to discuss this morning."
Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti from Milan stigmatizes the superbonus with a new effective comparison, it is like an "economic drug" from which we must get out: "Unfortunately, detoxification is painful but someone has to do it, someone has to order it taking into account that those who are most interested in it and benefit from it do not agree." Also because, he warned, already «in the next four years we will have an impact of approximately 30 billion every year for the next four years».
Meanwhile, Fratelli d'Italia decides to co-opt a new senator into the commission, in order to secure the majority vote. Salvatore Sallemi arrives from the Justice Commission, announced the group leader Lucio Malan in a letter sent to the president of the Senate. A "forcing", the opposition arises. The move by President Ignazio La Russa, who announced the change in the Chamber, but held back: the new composition only comes into force after 24 hours, and not immediately, avoided the clash. On balance, moreover, the numbers are more favorable for the majority. And the move, at the end of the day, also becomes superfluous with the surprise assistance of Italia Viva in favor of the amendment proposed by the government. And FI, shocked by Iv's unexpected move, prefers to abstain rather than vote against. Even if the contrary position on the retroactivity topic remains.
The agreement on the postponement of the sugar tax to July 2025 also arrived in the evening. There are therefore the resources, around 139 million, to cover another year of postponement. The government's amendment would have triggered it from July. But at least on this point Forza Italia brings home a success: "It's our victory", comments FI group leader in the Senate Maurizio Gasparri.
