Still negative numbers on the state of Sardinian entrepreneurship.

After the drop in youth businesses , there is also a drop in start-ups: in Cagliari last year 87 companies lost, with a negative balance of 18.4%. This is the worst performance of all fourteen large cities examined by the study "Companies born in 2022 and the economic contribution of start-ups", carried out by the consulting firm Cerved.

While it is true that this is a national trend - in Italy there are 10,587 fewer start-ups than in 2021 - but realities such as Milan, Genoa and Rome manage to contain the loss below 10%. The Sardinian capital, on the other hand, is the city that pays the most : almost eight points compared to the national average.

«The development of a new business is a key indicator for monitoring the economic situation and the dynamism of sectors and territories», commented Andrea Mignanelli, CEO of Cerved, speaking of the national situation, «our data shows that the worsening of expectations due to war, energy crisis and inflation slowed entrepreneurial initiative. Birth rates in 2022 are in fact in sharp decline, with a negative balance of around 10 thousand new businesses. The decline in births is a signal that should not be overlooked: start-ups are a lever for the transformation of our economic system, they bring innovative ideas, technology and competitiveness».
