On the morning of Saturday, March 29, a partial solar eclipse will be visible throughout Sardinia. The Moon, in its movement around the Earth, will partially cover the Sun, giving rise to the rare phenomenon of an eclipse . Since the Moon's shadow is very small compared to the size of the Earth, the eclipse will not be seen in the same way throughout Sardinia and Italy.
The eclipse is set to start in Cagliari at 11:24, with maximum coverage at around 11:54, with the Sun being eclipsed by around 3%, and will end at around 12:23. In Sassari, eclipse conditions will be slightly better with coverage reaching almost 5%, with the start at 11:21, maximum at 11:56 and the end at 12:31.
To observe the eclipse, it will be necessary to adequately protect your eyes, using specific filters or welder's glasses with a strength of 14. The maximum coverage of the eclipse will be observed in Quebec, but the eclipse will still be partial.
On the occasion of the eclipse, the Planetarium of l'Unione Sarda has organized an event at 11:00 at the headquarters in Piazza Unione Sarda. Inside the planetarium, our star will be told about the phenomenon of the eclipse, outside, the Sun and the eclipse will be observed through a telescope. Among the available telescopes, one will be equipped with special filters that will be able to show, weather permitting, the solar prominences and the activity of the Sun's atmosphere.
