How can we tell the story of the great environmental challenges of the contemporary world using audiovisual language? How can we address the issues of climate change, biodiversity, and the protection of ecosystems, the sea, and landscapes through film?
These are the questions posed by Skiscionera – Cinema in verde , the international short film festival dedicated to the environment organised in Cagliari in its first edition by the Rebelterra association with the artistic direction of Andrea Mura .
The event, scheduled for December 4th and 5th at the library on Via Falzarego, opens today for registrations in the competition for the best short films on environmental themes.
Fiction, documentaries, animated films and hybrid works, with a maximum running time of 20 minutes, made between 2022 and today , are eligible to participate.
You can submit your free application using the form on rebelterra.it by August 31st to compete for the Best Film Award (€500 prize) and the Rebelterra Environmental Impact Award (€200 prize). Student jury and audience awards will also be awarded.
The jury, chaired by writer and screenwriter Francesco Trento, is composed of Stefania Divertito, Valentina Orrù, Gabriele Farci, and Giulia Camba, professionals in the fields of cinema, communications, and journalism.
Alongside the film jury, a scientific committee will evaluate the Rebelterra Environmental Impact award for the short film that stands out for the relevance and scientific quality of its environmental message.
The festival is organized by Rebelterra with the contribution of the Municipality of Cagliari, as part of the 2026 call for contributions to cultural and entertainment activities.
