The joy for the promotion to Serie A, the seventh in the glorious history of Cagliari, is still alive among the fans and insiders. But it's time to plan, to make the team competitive with a view to salvation. Because, at least for now, this can only be the goal.

The guidelines on which to give birth to the new Cagliari – which Giulini, Ranieri and Bonato would agree on – are substantially different from those that inspired the purchase-sale campaigns of the past. We will no longer bet on "old" players, even more if with heavy engagements. The goals, in case, will be expert players, who willingly accept to wear the rossoblù shirt. But above all motivated young people who are hungry to emerge.

In this case, Collocolo from Ascoli could be considered a goal for the midfield, but he's not the only one evaluated by the rossoblù board, which has received precise indications from Ranieri.

Also to be clarified who will stay and who will leave from the squad that won the playoffs.

Given that Barreca, Millico and Falco should not be confirmed or the redemption will not be exercised on them , the challenge is to be able to keep all the players who, more than others, have contributed to the promotion.

The call of the sirens for goalkeeper Radunovic is strong, especially from abroad (Premier and Bundesliga): after an ups and downs start, he was the star of an extraordinary second leg. As for him, Serie A's eyes are focused on Makoumbou and Luvumbo from Serie A to the major foreign championships: proposals from the Premier League arrived last summer, but the club preferred to decline them and launch the young Angolan. And then Dossena: just a season ago, when he was under contract for Avellino, he trained on the sidelines in the Mercogliano sports centre. He is now one of the central defenders on which the spotlights of various Serie A clubs and beyond are focused. Cagliari, after redeeming him for just over one hundred thousand euros from the Irpinia players, has every intention of keeping him and, perhaps, adding an experience profile to him. There is talk of Baschirotto from Lecce but he is not the only profile under the lens.

If evaluations are underway on Viola, among the leaders of the group, Lapadula, top scorer in Serie B and driver of the locker room, will remain in attack. Another outfield striker should also arrive : there is talk of Gabbiadini, but some foreign leads cannot be excluded. It is not yet known whether Pavoletti will remain: the striker is certainly on the market in Serie B even if the player has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay.

As for the players on loan and returning a year after the Caporetto in Venice, Empoli did not redeem Marin at the figures agreed in the summer: Ranieri will say if he will stay. It's a different story for Bellanova: Inter wouldn't want to deprive themselves of him, but Torino are strong on the winger launched by Mazzarri, who will hardly stay in Cagliari.

The retirement will begin in mid-July and the transfer market is only in its infancy. The only certainties are that the season will begin with the match against Palermo in the Italian Cup and that almost certainly Cagliari will ask the League to play the first away match of the season to allow the Domus to adapt to the new provisions. Diesse Bonato is already at work on the market front: the first moves will be known in the coming weeks.
