Jannik Sinner beats the Dane Holger Rune , number 7 in the ranking, and reaches the semi-finals of the Master 1000 in Monte Carlo: 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 the score in 2 hours and 42 minutes of play.

It is the 24th victory out of 25 matches in 2024 to be remembered for the South Tyrolean tennis player who today, unlike the last matches, suffered but managed to emerge unscathed from the quicksand of a very dangerous match.

After a calm first set, brought home thanks to a break obtained in the fifth game, the blue wasted several opportunities in the second: to be precise, six break points and then two matchpoints at 6-4 in the tiebreak .

Rune gets excited, takes home the set and looks for a coup, as he did last year in Monte Carlo, taking away Sinner's rhythm and distracting him with constant complaints towards the referee and provocations towards the public. The blue is a sphinx, in the third and decisive set he overcomes a complicated moment in the fifth game, when he has to cancel a breakpoint at 2-2, and then ahead 4-3 he places the decisive break by playing perfectly. He closed it 6-3 and on Saturday he faced the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals .
