He is due to appear on October 8th before the Cagliari Assize Court to answer the charge of killing his mother: Andrea Tidu, 27, was committed for trial yesterday morning by the Court Judge, Giulia Tronci, who granted the request of the Public Prosecutor Enrico Lussu.

The psychiatric evaluation ordered by preliminary investigations judge Giorgio Altieri had established that the defendant, arrested after the murder of his mother, Maria Dolores Cannas, 57, was not mentally competent when he stabbed her to death, but was nevertheless competent to stand trial.

For this reason, immediately after the medical examination by specialist Irene Mascia, the 27-year-old was transferred to a center for the mentally ill.

Andrea Tudu is accused of fatally stabbing his mother in the back in their home on Via Monte Genis, in Sinnai.
