MP Silvio Lai is the new regional secretary of the Democratic Party. He was elected by acclamation at the party assembly currently underway in the Congress Hall in Tramatza, which began two hours late to summarize the other positions to be appointed.

Before Lai, outgoing Piero Comandini said that a phase that began with the last primaries would end with a unified choice.

"Unity that has paid off with the victory in the regional elections and that must continue," he said. "We need someone who can support the current majority governing the region. Silvio Lai is the figure I'm proposing, and I'm sure he'll work well, have experience, and be inclusive. Lai's term will last at least until the 2027 congress."

Giovanna Scanu (outgoing vice president) was also elected president by acclamation, replacing Giuseppe Meloni.
