The primary aluminum production plant Sider Alloys in Portovesme (formerly Alcoa, closed in November 2012) will restart.
The regional government approved the resolution which concluded the complex authorization process, which unlocks an investment of 185 million.
“Great hope is reborn for the territory - comments the President of the Region Christian Solinas -. An extraordinary job carried out with extreme efficiency and very quickly made possible by the commitment of the councilors involved and their structures. The Portovesme center still represents today, and must represent in the future, a wealth in terms of economy and skills, which we absolutely cannot give up. For this reason, the Region has mobilized to prepare all the strategies to ensure that the abandonment of coal and energy conversion take place while safeguarding all the industrial facilities, fundamental for the harmonious development, together with the other productive sectors, of our economic system ".
The Region has expressed a positive opinion on environmental compatibility: "This is the first resolution of a single regional environmental measure, wanted by this council last January and which became operational last May - says the councilor for the Environment Gianni Lampis - In just 7 months, he stresses, we have processed a practice that in other times would have required at least three years ".
Now, assures the councilor for health Mario Nieddu, the Region “will immediately start an intense work of monitoring the impact of the activities in the territory, guaranteeing the highest levels of safety. Similar work will be carried out with regard to health aspects, with the involvement of the competent health authority for the area and the ARPAS ".
"All the actions and means to implement an air quality mitigation plan, an epidemiological surveillance, an in-depth study of the problems related to food exposure of the resident population in the municipalities of Portoscuso, Carloforte will be carried out - specify the exponents of the council. , Calasetta, Carbonia, Gonnesa and San Giovanni Suergiu ".
"Satisfaction" is also expressed by the councilors for Industry Anita Pili and Alessandra Zedda at work.
