Organized by the Centro studi Saser, the 10th Melos Festival is coming to an end. The Sassu Hall of the Luigi Canepa Conservatory in Sassari will host the concert by pianist and composer Roberto Piana on Monday at 8:30 pm. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to AIL, the Italian Association against Leukemia.

Many pieces in the program are linked to the concept of reinterpreting works by other composers or translating music into new contexts. During the concert, the audience will be able to appreciate how the piano can become an instrument of connection and transformation between eras, styles and cultures: through transcriptions, elaborations and reinterpretations, each composition adds a new perspective to the original material, creating a continuous dialogue between the past, the present and popular and cultured traditions.

Roberto Piana will perform three of the Six chants polonais de Frederic Chopin transcribed by Franz Liszt (n.5 Mes joyes , n. 2 Wiosna and n. 4 Bacchanal ), Nocturne in C minor B108, Valse op. 69 n. 1 and Nocturne “Lento con grandeespressione” B49 by Frédéric Chopin, followed by a composition by Piana himself, Après une lecture by Liszt . This will be followed by La barcheta by Reynaldo Hahn, Il drago and Romance poudrée by Giulio Ricordi, before Asturiana and Danza rituale del fuoco by Manuel De Falla. Space for French music with Mon légionnaire and Hymne à l'amour by Marguerite Monnot, made famous by Edith Piaf, in an elaboration by Piana, and for the Argentine tradition of Astor Piazzolla with El gordo Sad and Libertango , also in an elaboration by the performer.
