Their love began when their eyes met along the mountain road that leads to the “Sa Stiddiosa” area.

Since then – having overcome her family's initial reticence – Quintino Sanna and Antonina Murgia have never left each other: with their 74th wedding anniversary, celebrated on Saturday, they are the longest-lived couple in Sarroch.

Ninety-nine years old Quintino , three years younger than Antonina, a love that is approaching the threshold of its diamond wedding, which has generated seven children, eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Sitting on the sofa at their daughter Benigna's house , who has been looking after them for several years, the inseparable couple from Sarroch reveal how their love story began, a love story that has endured through the decades to reach the present day, and demonstrate that no, there are no recipes for keeping a love story intact for so long: "You just need to arm yourself with patience and tolerance," they say with a smile.
