The final word will be written on March 15 on the first degree trial that is held in the Court of Assizes against Francesco Baingio Douglas Fadda, the 45-year-old from Sassari accused of the murder of his 41-year-old companion of Czech origin, Zdenka Krejcikova, who died in consequence of a knife wound reported in a bar in Sorso on February 15, 2020.

The Court of Sassari, presided over by judge Massimo Zaniboni, alongside Gian Paolo Piana, should have issued the sentence today, but everything has jumped because the accused, who is in the Sassari prison of Bancali, is positive for Covid-19.

The replies of the prosecutor Paolo Piras and the civil lawyers have also been updated, the lawyer Teresa Pes for the victim's mother and the lawyer Pietro Diaz for her daughters, who have asked for compensation of at least 600 thousand euros each.

The prosecutor asked for life imprisonment for Fadda , holding him responsible for voluntary murder aggravated by premeditation, committed against a person to whom the perpetrator was linked by a relationship and committed with cruelty, as well as responsible for resistance, torture, abusive port of knife and kidnapping.

The request for acquittal was made during the last hearing by the lawyer Lorenzo Galisai, defender of Fadda who has always rejected the complaints. According to the defender, "neither the report produced by the prosecution nor the testimonies dissolve the doubts and prove that it was Fadda who injured the victim".

According to the indictment, however, on Saturday 15 February 2020 Zdenka Krejcikova, after a quarrel with her partner, had escaped from the house in via Tiziano to take refuge in the bar below the house, where the man had reached her and wounded her with a kitchen knife to then load her into the car together with her daughters and run away to Ossi, abandoning her in agony in an apartment in via Spinoza, near the doctor's office.

The victim had been rescued in an ambulance, but attempts to save her life had been in vain.
