The scam scheme was well-established. They called the victim - often elderly - and posed as a police lieutenant and a lawyer, communicating that the son of the recipient of the call had hit a pedestrian and that, to avoid being reported, it was necessary to pay a sum of around 10 thousand euros. Even in jewelry. Recently the scam in northern Sardinia succeeded twice. The third was foiled by agents of the Sassari Mobile team, who arrested those responsible.

Suspicions had focused on two young people, who in recent days disembarked by car from a ship that landed at the Isola Bianca port of Olbia.

The Mobile investigators, alerted by their precedents, began to follow them, until they stopped in the Predda Niedda area. Locked in the cockpit, they fiddled with the phones and made some calls.

In the meantime, a report from a woman arrived at the Police Headquarters switchboard: she said that her sister had just been asked to pay the money to avoid reporting her son, who was involved in an alleged accident . And the delivery location was not far from where the two suspects were. So the search began.

The two young people were arrested and transferred to Bancali prison. The car and phones were seized.
