Ignorance, carelessness, let's also add a lot of malice. Because it really takes courage to abandon litters like they were garbage. This is what happens too often in Tortolì.

In front of the municipal kennel, the managers of the Rock&Dog cooperative continually find themselves faced with this sad scene: puppies just a few days or weeks old abandoned to their fate. Just like it happened yesterday: a cardboard box and three beautiful cream-colored dogs.

The main problem is the lack of sterilization, these are not litters of stray dogs but owned ones. «The case in the photo is emblematic of how dogs are adopted superficially in the area. This is the result of a hasty choice, wrong management, sterilization not carried out and a lack of care that we will never understand", say the disheartened managers from the kennel.

With a post on Facebook they denounced yet another abandonment. «We ended up having around 40 puppies in the kennel and half of these were abandoned in front of our gates, some even thrown. As long as you continue to think that sterilization is against nature, that the vet is too expensive, that monetary help from institutions is due for the sterilization of owned dogs, that a creature like the dog has many other needs than just one shelter, food and water and if you think your friend's health is not a priority please: don't adopt."

The councilor with responsibility for the Environment Riccardo Falchi is not indifferent to the phenomenon of animal abandonment: «We are aware and attentive to the problem, it is our prerogative and we will have a meeting on the matter shortly».

The goal is to find the best solution to stem this plague. Sterilization campaigns but also information and awareness campaigns starting from the little ones.
