Not an easy spring for those traveling by train in Sardinia. After the works that cause cancellations and timetable changes on the Cagliari-Decimomannu-Villamassargia-Iglesias, after the stop on the Macomer-Chillivani, RFI has announced new changes starting from today until May 19th .

An announcement that arrived just yesterday, on the eve of the start of the disruption. In fact, maintenance work begins on the Cagliari-Olbia and Cagliari-Iglesias/Carbonia Serbariu lines.

These are interventions to regulate the thermal expansion of the rails, RFI explains in a note, necessary to preserve the infrastructure from an excessive rise in temperatures , "also in consideration of the climate changes recorded in recent years".

Interventions worth approximately 80 thousand euros which will involve 20 workers and technicians from RFI and other contracting companies. Work that requires the suspension of railway traffic and optimal climatic conditions "without which new programming might also be necessary".

Again due to work on the rails, on 21 April the Cagliari-Oristano line undergoes a timetable change with departure at 11.10; while on 22, 23 and 28 April, due to works on the Cagliari-Decimomannu-Villamassargia-Iglesias/Carbonia Serbariu line there will be cancellations with the replacement bus service active . All particularly crowded routes. As for Northern Sardinia, official communications on changes and cancellations have not yet arrived.
