Mount Unturzu has become the symbol of the protest against energy speculation in the Ittiri area . The committees "Alghero New Resistance Committee for the Sardinian Land," "Gallura Coordination for the Defense of Sardinia," and "Comitadu pro sa Nurra" have called for a march tomorrow, starting at 10:30 a.m. from the L'Impero bar in the town center . The march will reach the top of the mountain and protest the Alas wind farm : ten wind turbines with a capacity of 66 MW, located between Ittiri and Villanova Monteleone. The project, authorized in 2024 but never accepted by the community, is expected to reach the top of the mountain.

The initiative comes just hours after the City Council's unanimous vote—in the presence of Regional Councilor Francesco Spanedda—against the 470.4 MW BESS project in Su Dragone , a storage facility whose permits remain pending. Two distinct fronts, one common demand: that the energy transition respect the landscape, environment, and local identity.

Meanwhile , Gallura is also mobilizing against the project called "Cork and Granite Wind Farm," to be built in the municipalities of Calangianus and Sant'Antonio di Gallura (with related projects also in Olbia and Telti). Mayors, business owners, farmers, and residents of country homes and stables in the affected areas are ready to fight to prevent the towers from being placed just a few dozen meters from homes and businesses.
