A 27-year-old of Tunisian nationality was arrested by the Digos of the Sassari Police Headquarters in execution of an international arrest warrant issued by the Court of First Instance of Tunis.
He had been wanted by the Tunisian authorities for some time after being convicted of being part of a terrorist association and of acts of terrorism. According to Digos findings, the 27-year-old had landed clandestinely in Sardinia in recent months , and was housed in an extraordinary reception center in Sassari, as an applicant for international protection.
The man was kept under observation by the police precisely because the information from the "intelligence" sector indicated him as an alleged extremist. As soon as the Tunisian authorities compared the photo identification card sent to them by Interpol, the Digos agents arrested him and now the 27-year-old is incarcerated in the Bancali prison, in Sassari, on the orders of the judges of the Sassari branch of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari, who validated the arrest and ordered the detention and the start of the procedures for extradition to Tunisia.
