Violent collision between a dinghy and a sailing boat while sailing in the sea of Villaputzu. It happened last night: one person injured, transported to the hospital of Lanusei. The accident involved a 10-meter long sailing boat and a 14-meter dinghy. From a partial reconstruction of the events, during the night navigation, at the height of Capo San Lorenzo, 2 miles from the coast, the dinghy violently hit the sailing boat with its bow, dismasting it . The collision caused the injury to a member of the crew of the sailing boat who, following a collision on the deck, complained of severe back pain.
The distress call was received by the operations room of the Arbatax Coast Guard which, under the coordination of the 13th Mrsc of Cagliari, ordered the intervention in the area of the patrol boat CP 811 with on board the personnel of the 118 with the crew of the association Le Grazie of Tortolì. After an initial moment of fear, the crews of the boats were reassured by the personnel of the Circomare who, in the meantime, monitored the conditions of the injured person, making sure of the navigability conditions of the boats and the health of the crews involved.
Once on site, the Coast Guard and 118 provided for the transfer of the injured man on a stretcher to the patrol boat for the prompt return to the port of Arbatax and transport to Nostra Signora della Mercede in Lanusei . The crews were safely taken to the Porto Corallo dock. The first information was immediately acquired to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident and alcohol tests were carried out at the mooring in collaboration with the Cagliari Highway Police.
