An operation by the Villaputzu Forestry Corps has allowed them to identify and stop a poacher in the act, who was positioning steel cables for the illegal capture of animals. The events occurred last May 25 in the countryside of Villaputzu, inside the military polygon of Salto di Quirra. The person responsible has been reported.

The poacher, already known for specific precedents in the matter of poaching, did not resist when stopped. On site, the agents of the Villaputzu station of the Forestry Corps found 10 steel cables already prepared, which had not yet trapped and injured animals. Following the search of the vehicle, 18 additional cables were seized , evidently ready to be positioned.

The accused was also in possession of a folding knife with a 12-centimeter blade, which is among the prohibited weapons. He was reported for the following crimes: hunting during a general ban, using prohibited means for hunting, possession of a prohibited knife . The penalties include arrest for up to three months and a fine of up to 2,500 euros, in addition to the sanctions related to possession of the weapon.
