"In Sardinian prisons - he continues - the number of mentally unstable prisoners and inmates has reached unacceptable numbers, with a dramatic increase in hospital admissions, and too often with attacks on Penitentiary Police personnel and Health Workers because they are forced to work in conditions of extreme discomfort since the prisoners or inmates are hospitalized in hospital wards together with ordinary patients. Unfortunately, the island's politicians continue to pretend not to hear, consequently also increasing the cost of state spending which inevitably has repercussions on all taxpayers".

Then the appeal: « An urgent meeting with the President of the Sardinia Region and with the Health Councilor, we are willing to take to the streets and maintain a garrison under the region until they solve the problem . The Women and Men of the Penitentiary Police have been waiting for too long for answers to improve the Institutional service that they find themselves guaranteeing inside the city hospitals without detention wards, to be able to work safely without putting anyone's life at risk».
