"A wound still open, a very serious emergency that we have faced together with the municipality, citizens and operators who have mobilized at all stages".
Christian Solinas recalls the tragic flood of Bitti two years later, which caused three victims: « The memory of those hours, the images of the river of water and mud that crossed the town in a few minutes causing destruction and death are a pain deep that lives again today, November 28 », says the governor recalling the relief machine immediately launched by the Region.
3,457 men and 1,138 vehicles from Forestas and the Forestry Corps were involved in managing the event. The operations went on until 14 December, for over two weeks. The municipalities downstream of the Cedrino river were also preventively evacuated: Irgoli, Loculi, Galtellì, Oliena and Onifai, as well as Posada and Torpè which are located downstream of the Maccheronis dam.
What happened in 2020, underlines the governor, " still today calls for the responsibility of those who are engaged at all levels to guarantee the security of the territories ".
Solinas also claims "the incisive activity carried out on the hydrogeological instability front" by his council and the regional and national funding allocated to Bitti and neighboring countries in these two years, for a total amount exceeding 112 million euros .
As regards the interventions of the commissioner structure for the instability, managed by the president of the Region himself, resources have been allocated for a total of 32,033,436 euros .
